Δημήτρης Μυταράς (1934-2017)
Ο Δημήτρης Μυταράς γεννήθηκε στη Χαλκίδα το 1934.
Σπούδασε Ζωγραφική στην Α.Σ.Κ.Τ. στην Αθήνα (1953-1957), με καθηγητή τον Γιάννη Μόραλη και τον Σπύρο Παπαλουκά, όπου και τιμήθηκε με σειρά βραβείων. Με κρατική υποτροφία μελέτησε, το 1957, τη λαϊκή τέχνη της Μυτιλήνης και αργότερα παρακολούθησε μαθήματα Σκηνογραφίας στην École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs και Εσωτερικής Διακόσμησης στην École des Métiers d' Art στο Παρίσι (1960-1964). Παρουσίασε την πρώτη του ατομική έκθεση στην Αθήνα το 1961. Από το 1964, δίδαξε στο Α.Τ.Ι. (Σχολή Δοξιάδη) και το 1975 εξελέγη Τακτικός Καθηγητής στην Α.Σ.Κ.Τ. Έχει σκηνογραφήσει σειρά ελληνικών θεατρικών παραστάσεων και έχει διακοσμήσει πολλούς δημόσιους χώρους. Κινούμενος από ένα τύπο εξπρεσιονιστικής αφαίρεσης προς ένα ρεαλισμό κριτικού χαρακτήρα και επιχειρώντας να συσχετίσει τη μεταφυσική ζωγραφική με τις υπερρεαλιστικές αντιλήψεις, επέτυχε να διαμορφώσει ένα ιδιαίτερα αναγνωρίσιμο προσωπικό εικαστικό ύφος.
Dimitris Mytaras (1934-2017)
Born in Chalkida, Dimitris Mytaras studied Painting with Yannis Moralis and Spiros Papaloukas at the School of Fine Arts, Athens (1953-1957), where he was awarded with several Prizes. With a state scholarship he studied (1957) the folklore art on the Island of Mytelene and later attended lessons on Stage Scenery at the École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs and Interior Design at the École des Métiers d' Art, in Paris (1960-1964). He had his first solo exhibition in Athens (1961). Since 1964, he taught at the Athens Technological Institute ( Doxiadis School) and in 1975 he was elected professor at the School of Fine Arts. He has designed the stage scenery for a series of theater performances and has decorated many public places. Moving from a sort of expressionist abstraction towards a critical realist character and
trying to correlate the metaphysics painting with surrealist perceptions, he succeeded in forming a particularly recognizable personal artistic style.
